The result

After presentations by the participants and rigid and fair judging by a panel of four judges, $JPYC was awarded to good teams as prize money based on the results.

In this press release, we introduce the proposals and products presented by the top three teams.

Team: Miren-gers

*(Miren means “regret” in Japanese, added to before the word “(ran)gers”)

Under the team slogan of “Let’s make public goods!”, they gave the presentation in two stages, aiming for sustainable activities such as “a plain and steady but useful project = public goods” + “creating a (profitable) mechanism to keep the public goods operating sustainably”.

They demonstrated “JPYC Faucet for Tip bot” (Faucet = the system where tokens are donated little by little like a faucet) as a “public good” to obtain gas fees (network fees) to withdraw “thrown JPYC on Twitter” collected by TipJPYC, which is a bot on Twitter that already works.

Then, they proposed “Public Goods DAO” to support public goods that are modest and difficult to fundraise.

Team: Yen no Shita no Chikara Mochi

Based on their catchy slogan “¥Joy, ¥Power, ¥Rich” (Enjoy, Empower, Enrich), they proposed a service that provides a library that enables easy JPYC settlement for all Web 3.0 services, including overseas services.

In the product demo, they presented a service concept called “NFT Marketplace where you can pay by $JPYC” which is truly a service to “expand the circle of yen”**.

**Team name “Yen no Shita no Chikara Mochi” is punned on a Japanese proverb “縁の下の力持ち (En no Shita no Chikara Mochi)”, and the word “縁 (En)” and “円 (Yen)” sounds really similar. Now, the last sentence makes sense.

Team: Dancing Token

With the slogan “I want to save my favs with JPYC,” they proposed a service that allows users to throw $JPYC in association with the live streaming of the event.

They demonstrated with the Chrome extension “Oshi-Sapo (Supporting your favs)!” showing how the “Oshi-Sapo!” service would work and it would be like on the video screen with a comment when a user sends a tip in $JPYC to a “favs” who is broadcasting on OBS Studio.

Fun project “Idea-thon”

In the “2nd Japanese Yen Hackathon”, we held an “idea-thon” as a fun project at the same time.

This idea-thon was open also to non-engineers who could participate by submitting videos, and in this event they competed on the quality of their ideas utilizing $JPYC.

There were two awards:

The Community Award for the team receiving high ratings from the community

The Judges’ Award for the team getting highest ratings from the judges.

The Idea-thon is on YouTube for everyone to watch.

Community Award: Team “Anoaka: The Account We Made That Day”

Team “Anoaka: The Account We Made That Day” got this award with their “Quiz and Earn”.

“Quiz and Earn ‘’ implies the kind of messages and objects that “we don’t aim for playing quizes to earn, we do just for fun and luckily earn money”.

They proposed the Quiz Competition using “Minn-haya (the quiz game app that players have to push the fastest to answer the question)” with $JPYC as a participation fee and prize.

Judges’ Award: Team “Sauna Community with NFT (N-SaCo)”

Team “Sauna Community with NFT (N-SaCo)” proposed an “Automatic royalty distribution system” and it won this award.

This community was created on the occasion of the NFT auction for “Sauna Land” magazine.

Its idea was a practical proposal to use smart contract to solve the complications they faced when allocating the revenue of e-book sales.
